Her Rainbow Socks

My oldest daughter, Bug, does not have a favourite colour. She has many. Usually she will list of three or four colours every single morning and declare them to be her favourite that day. I have learnt that from her. That I don't have to stay true to my one colour of choice, but that the colours I enjoy and love can change on the daily and even in the moment. She has taught me to look at the world differently that way.

More often then not, though, she will say that her favourite colour is rainbow. She loves rainbows and often finds that rainbows don't have as many colours as they should. When I asked her if she wanted me to knit her a pair of socks, it wasn't to my surprise that her request was to use rainbow yarn. So we searched. Often I would pull her aside when I found a pretty skein of yarn on Instagram, but it wasn't until we saw Bunny & Toot's rainbow yarn that she told me to stop looking. That was it, we had found the perfect rainbow yarn.

I used a vanilla sock pattern, but just modified it so that it would fit Bug's feet. They are definitely far from perfect, but she loves them and wears them tons, so to me, that is all that matters. I also used a little bit of leftover yarn from my Find Your Fade Shawl by Andrea Mowry. The yarn was from Plank & Stella and the colour Bug chose for her cuff was "Polly Wanna Cracker" and her heel came from "Festivus Miracle V. 1." Overall, such a fun project. I would definitely knit her socks again!!
Thank you for reading. xo
