Four Mondays Of : D I Y > C H R I S T M A S

I am a huge fan of making my own Christmas decorations! I have so many memories as a little kid making things for this time of year that it just comes naturally to me now. Be crafty. I cannot help it. I have memories of making fabric garlands, wooden Christmas coasters, paper stars, snowman made from Styrofoam balls, painted cardboard figurines, painting ornaments, popcorns garland strings ... I could go on forever. I honestly cannot wait until Lovebug gets old enough to make things with me. I am so excited.

My brain has been on Christmas since June. I know, way too early, but between helping my mother in her store (Christmas in Retail starts in February!), working on early Christmas presents, as well as crafting up items to consign in stores ... I just cannot help it. I love this time of year and I love DIY's, so what better way to celebrate my mood than to spend the next four Mondays talking about it?

One of the things I made last year were dried citrus ornaments. It was the first time I made them, however, dried citrus ornaments and garlands have been a part of my life forever. My mom made them all the time and now it is a very nostalgic, feels-like-Christmas type of ornament to me. I will never grow tired of seeing them hang in my tree. I followed the exact same recipe that I used last year, however, I did change them up a bit by adding twine and buttons. I hope you like them.
Above. A mixture of already dried orange slices with fresh ones.
Above. Once they are sliced lay them out on a pan and bake them.
Above. I baked the orange slices for four hours.
Above. I really don't know why I decided to use twine this year instead of string, but I really like the way they turned out.
Above. I was talking knots with my mom today when the idea of using buttons came to me. All of the lovely buttons you see here were from my Mother's Button Stash - thanks mom!
Thank you so much for reading. I really hope you enjoyed this little DIY. xoxo
