Origami :: Undertaking Creativity

February is now over and I really feel as if Spring is on its way. The sun has been shinning like crazy, and even though the wind is so cold, the city seems to be leaning towards the Spring side of things. The shops have Easter decorations and potted plants and flowers: all things that point to spring. My birthday is coming and so are warmer days. I have been so happy as of late and I just want to lay on the floor with the sun on my face and fall asleep.

Now that you know my mood as of late, I can really say and you will really understand how much I enjoyed doing origami this month. I feel as if the little projects I did really added to my home and made if feel light and fresh: both things that I feel describe the season of Spring. I decided to do two paper folding projects this month because I couldn't choose between the two. So much fun. I am not sure where the crane wall hanging is going to go, but the little boxes are where they belong and I really think they add to the space.
The pictures do not do this little project justice. The texture that these boxes bring are glorious and the only thing that I can think of to add to this corner to make it "perfect" are plants that hang from the ceiling. I was surprised that the boxes were SO easy to make. Af first it alarmed me that it needed six pieces of papers, but it was so easy. I actually took pictures of my process to make them, so if you would love for me to do a DIY on how to make these boxes, please let me know. I would love to put that together for you if you are interested.
The second project I did was a little tougher. I found a tutorial online but since it wasn't a video, I was very confused by it. Luckily my husband knew how to make them so he showed me how to do it and, again, I was surprised with how easy this project was.
I am not sure where to hang this little wall hanging or if I want to add more to it. I am really pleased with how both projects turned out and how much they add to my living room. I love pictures of homes that have many elements of texture to them and I feel like origami really helps bring that to my home. I definitely want to continue looking for new ideas and inspirations of how I can bring paper art into my home.

If you have any origami projects that you would love to submit to me so that I can create a blog post to share with others, please let me know. You can contact me at knottedhome (at) hotmail (dot) com. I would love to see what you have created. The submission deadline will be at the end of April. Also, if you have any art journal entries - I am still accepting them until the end of March!

March: Paper Flowers
Time for a new project! Since I really enjoyed working with paper last month I really want to continue with this paper theme. I am in the mood for spring and I love flowers - of all kinds. I want to create little vases of pretty flowers for my home.

These are just a few of the lovely DIY's from this site that I found. There are so many amazing different options on Pinterest that are amazing and the sky is the limit. I am so excited for this project and you will see my creations at the beginning of April. I would love to see your creations so feel free to email me or send them in to my Facebook Page. Happy crafting! xoxo
